Another private encaustic class

John Pie from Canada and I enjoyed an all day intensive encaustic class. Now he is another person bitten with the encaustic bug. I look forward to seeing what he will be creating in his home studio.

Second Day

 This workshop was a breeze for me. Everyone was a professional painter and they took off with the technique and made individual, beautiful paintings. And they all want to come back for another workshop soon.

There were just three people in this introductory workshop, since two canceled at the last minutes, but it did give everyone the chance to go in their own direction and explore the magic of encaustics. We started earlier since the days continue to be quite warm.

I am hoping the weather will be cooler in June. I am changing the dates for later in the month and will keep my fingers crossed that the rains will start.

Here is the video of the participants in an advanced technique class. I am always impressed and inspired by the talented artists who create original, unique painting in the workshop.

I was concerned about the afternoon heat in the studio, so I asked all the participants to arrive an hour earlier - 9 instead of 10. They all did. It cooled down considerably today, the second day, because of a wind/dust "storm" last night that had me without electricity for a while. It was worth it to have a beautiful day today and no one had to break out in a sweat.

This group of five people was a dream to work with. Everyone quickly got the feel of the encaustic and the torch and created their own vision.

March advanced workshop

It was a full week of classes. This advanced workshop allowed me to show many techniques that can be used in encaustic.

It was another beautiful day in San Miguel and the artists in the workshop had the feel of the propane torch and were free to see where the encaustic technique could take them. Two of them will be back Thursday to join another 3 artists in the advanced technique workshop. Carole is working on a larger multiple piece and I'll photograph her Friday when the next class is over.
