71st encaustic workshop

 It is hard to believe that this class was the first time anyone attending ever tried encaustic. There were some truly professional results.

We just finished two days of fun and creativity. It was a great group and varied creativity.

 Victor came to from San Antonio to San Miguel for a long,  private class, in advanced encaustic techniques. He is an interesting artist and his most famous client is Barack Obama.

Encaustic is a new way of artistic expression for Victor and I am sure he will be creating some interesting work.

Another delightful intro workshop.Once again. everyone traveled their encaustic journey differently.  It is always special to invite people into my studio to experience encaustic for the first time. Sometimes the shared energy creates even more creativity. We all had fun.

encaustic demos for advanced class

using the hot pen

adding india ink

making white; plain wax and white powdered pigment

The warm mixture must be mulled until smooth and then added to clear encaustic medium. It makes a beautiful white paint.
Here I am pounding a chain into the layers of encaustic to make texture
